Absolute Sump Pump Installation

The Absolute Way

Below grade sump pumps

Below grade sump pumps

Before we install the catch basin for the sump pump, we use a perforated catch basin ( 36" to sometimes 60" deep) surrounded by clean gravel and then wrapped in geo fabric to keep the dirt out of the basin. This allows all the subgrade water in that part of the basement to seep into the basin. then to be pumped out through a discharged PVC pipe.

In addition we lower the catch basin 2" below the concrete slab grade to allow floor water to seep into the top of the basin if any.

Once we installed the basin for the sump pump with the gravel you can see the below grade water is seeping in the next day.  Our Sump Pump was installed that day to discharged the water outside and away from the house.

The 4" PVC Perforated drain line was added to the sump pump then ran alongside the stone foundation wall.  This allows water from the stone foundation to enter into the subgrade drain line and elevated to run into the sump pump from there the water is discharged to a line outside of the house and away from the foundation.
